This painting is titled "Kavanah" which means intention. As this painting evolved over the course of a year, I found myself pulled into the Native American story of Rainbow Crow, a beautifully colored bird who volunteers to take on a difficult task. The Great Creator Mother is in the process of creating what she has dreamed through song but has asked for a co-creator to bring another quality to her creation. She asks that someone go and pluck out a piece of the sun and bring it down to earth so everyone can have fire and light. After volunteering when everyone else has refused, the crow returns with feathers that have been singed black. The intention to bring this gift of fire and light for all through co-creation inspires me.
